Going Medieval: How To Install Mods

While Going Medieval might be one of the biggest medieval strategy games out there, there are still some players which would like to take the gameplay to a whole new level. This can be done with implementing new functionality, new mechanics, and similar ways, with using so called ‘mods’. But how to install mods on Going Medieval? Is that even available?

How To Install Mods – Going Medieval

There are other medieval games which do have mods which are community-created. But is that the case for Going Medieval. Well, as you might know, Going Medieval is much in its early stages of development.

The game isn’t even out yet, meaning, it is still in early access, so a lot of things are a subject of change in the near future. To answer the question, yes, players can install mods in Going Medieval fortunately.

NOTE: To make things easier for you, we will use a console mod as an example of how the mod installation process goes.

So, how to install mods in Going Medieval:

  1. Download a mod. If you’re downloading the console mod, click on Assembly-CSharp.dll from the official github page.
  2. Now, navigate to your Going Medieval installation folder, usually: Program Files > Steam > steamapps > common > Going Medieval.
  3. Then, go into Going Medieval_Data, then Managed.
  4. Copy the downloaded file now – Assembly-CSharp.dll, and then paste it in the Managed folder.
  5. That’s it!

One thing is for certain though, Going Medieval will benefit from some community-made mods. That subject is already up to debate in the communities of this game, since the game on its own is unbelievably big and vast.

However, looking at it from every angle, there is a slight chance that modding might become a thing in the future, maybe after the full game gets released.

For now, only a few mods are available for Going Medieval. Also, depending on the mod, the installation might vary. For the console mod, the steps above are how to properly install it, but that might not be the case with other mods.

Modding communities have already been made on multiple mod centrals like NexusMods, ModDB, and others. So, the future might be positive, in terms of whether how many mods will be available.

Also, it is very important to mention that officially by the developers, it has been stated that there will be mod support in this game, and that has been in the works since the initial development of the game.

Still, many players and mod creators can safely be assured that more mods will be coming to the game, or at least that is the plan.
