Most of the mechanics in Valheim are based on real life. The developers have been focused to make the game as close to reality as possible. It seems as though they have successfully done so, since this game has shot up in interest and in its player base. Since the game has kept it as real as possible, most of the mechanics in the game seem unorthodox compared to other games.
What I’m trying to say is that there are so many unanswered questions in the community about some of the things in Valheim. Seems like many are curious whether trees grow back in Valheim.
Do Trees Respawn or Grow Back – Valheim
Wood is one of the most useful resources in the game, and while this game has a progressively-generated world, it can still be good if trees grew back, as that would save you from the trouble of walking big distances to get wood.
For those that don’t know, progressively-generated world, means the world is almost endless, as it generates always.
Without going much off topic, let’s answer the question whether trees respawn in Valheim. Unfortunately, trees do not grow back or respawn in Valheim.
The main question was whether the trees regrow from the stumps. The answer is no, but when you take down trees in Valheim, there are saplings from which trees can grow.
So, to sum up, all of the saplings in Valheim will grow a tree, but tree stumps won’t. In that case, you can remove all of the tree stumps that you have left in your world.
Nonetheless, this isn’t official information, but based on many of players’ trials, we concluded that trees don’t regrow from stumps. This might be changed in the future though.
Even though there is a small chance that we can see this change in the future, it is highly unlikely since Valheim prides itself on being as realistic as possible. In the meantime, you can remove any tree stumps that are in your way, and use saplings to grow trees at your establishment.
