Shadowlands is finally here and a lot of tweaks have been made to PvP as well as PvP gearing. Although some might not like the changes they’ve made, it’s no secret that the process is similarly straightforward.
Unfortunately, we won’t cover any “secret” ways to gear up as fast as possible, as there aren’t any. Instead, we will look at the best and most efficient ways to get to more than 220+ iLVL gear.
Get More Than 220+ iLVL PVP Gear – WoW Shadowlands
In order to make things as easy as possible for all skill levels and players, all of the ways outlined here will be ordered based on difficulty and progress in-game.
We will start with the basics and then slowly move up to the more advanced and higher item level gear.
Starting Your Grind
What happens when you reach level 60 and want to jump straight into PvP? Well, at this point, I would suggest that you buy some iLVL 151 BoE gear from the auction house.
This gear is by no means groundbreaking, but what it’ll do is give you a nice head start. You can find really cheap pieces in the auction place, so there really is no reason why you shouldn’t.
Now, if you disregard the last step because of the lack of funds or you want to get straight into BGs, you can absolutely do so. Farming honor will ultimately prove very rewarding, because there is some pretty good gear that can be bought with honor.
Fastest and most reliable ways to do this is by doing random BGs, and a premade would be nice if possible.
After buying some gear, you can upgrade it seven times, and you can expect to get around 197 iLVL by that point. However, it’s a pretty long process so be prepared for some work!
You can also get some good gear at dungeons. Normal dungeons will get you at least 158 item level, and heroics at least 171 item level.
At the time of writing, this is probably the best way to get at least 177 iLVL gear. Doing mythic 0 will get you a lot of good loot without having to grind it as much.
Now, you can find some groups that will welcome you with 151 item level gear, but the majority are looking for players above 160-165, so make sure you do some dungeons first.
My recommendation is doing some mythic 0 and then filling your gear gaps with honor gear, that way you’ll have a pretty strong foundation.
High-Level PvP Gear
This is where the tables turn and where the grown-ups talk. I’m sure you already know this, but this is where conquest comes into play.
The conquest gear will start at iLVL 200 and it can be upgraded to 226. There is a catch though. You can upgrade that gear based on what rating you are. This are the caps for the ratings (at the time of writing):
- Unranked – 200 iLVL
- Challenger – 206 iLVL
- Rival – 213 iLVL
- Duelist – 220 iLVL
- Elite – 226 iLVL
You will need honor to upgrade the conquest gear, which indicates that this expansion is heavily focused on the honor currency. On top of that, there is a weekly conquest cap which is unfortunate, but it is to be expected.
As you can see, there is a recurring theme in these methods. That is that you can gain an advantage by going into PvE. Doing normal raids will get you item level 200 gear, and heroic will get you 213.
As well, mythic 15 will get you 210 gear. So, I mean to say that the option is there for you to get a head start with your gearing, but I do realize that not everyone reading this is a fan of PvE.
That’s all you need to know for now, to get more than 220+ iLVL PvP gear in Shadowlands. Good luck!
